A carbon credit is a generic term for any tradable certificate of permit representing the right to emit one tonne of carbon dioxide or the mass of greenhouse gas with one tonne carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) httpsliwww cadx.aed.group..m/

Most companies have more than 40% of their GHG emissions in their Scope 3 inventory. SCS has an established lifecycle assessment team capable of determining the appropriate Scope 3 categories to assess for your business and compile these complex inventories.

What Is The Difference Between CO2 And CO2e?

  • CO2 It is the most prevalent greenhouse gas that is the major cause of global warming.
  • However, carbon dioxide is only one of many greenhouse gases that are emitted into the environment. Other major greenhouse gases are methane, nitrous oxide and ozone.
  • CO2e means carbon dioxide equivalent. CO2e allows other greenhouse gas emissions such as methane and nitrous oxide and ozone to be expressed in terms of CO2 based on the their global warming potential or GWP.
  • CO2e is measured in tonnes. How many tones of CO2e does the average person emit in one year?

Carbon Sequestration and Soil Improvement Using Basalt Rock on Agricultural Soil

Farming with Rocks

One compelling aspect of enhanced weathering is that, in controlled-environment studies involving basalt amendments of soil, cereal grain yields are improved rougly by 20%.

As basalt weathers, it increases vital plant nutrients that can boost production and increase crop yields. Mineral nutrients such as calcium, potassium and magnesium create healthier soils. Farmers have been amending soil with rock minerals for centuries, so the concept is nothing new.
